Default How much difference on Ride quality between the suspension package.

This is just strictly for comparison between
the stock/Premium set up versus the OEM sport suspension for an A3 2.0t anyone has any feedback/thoughts?

thanks

Default There is most definitely a noticeable difference.

But for me the sport is a nice compromise between looks and handling/ride quality. The non sport looks like a 4x4!

Default Very noticable. The Sport rotates in turns better and corners flatter. However, it is markedly

firmer on both impact and rebound damping, so depending on your roads and your personal comfort levels, it may become wearing.

The sharpened turn-in can be achieved on the premium package cars by using a firmer rear sway bar (search forum for options and feedback), but will feel just a tad less precise due to extra body movement if you chuck the car around corners often. It's no Buick mind you - just a relative difference.

Default Perhaps a different damper would work better...

I want to lower the front a tad bit- and I've read and been told that the oem sport springs will lower just the front approx 1/2" which is fine for me..but I will probably wait till i get Koni FSD dampers to pair with.I recall on my previous 1.8t passat wagon going from full Eibach setup to Eibach springs/Koni FSD and the ride became the ride i was looking for- smooth, comfortable, but sporty when the road calls for it. I am also saving up for new FSDs for our VW v6 passat glx.
As you can see on my sideline shot-- the front would look better just a tad lower.. I dont want it slammed- i've had my days on lowered cars.. no mo!

Default Would a rear sway really affect turn-in?

In my experience, it would affect every part of the turn EXCEPT turn in. Hell, stiffer front springs or front sway would improve turn in, but would suck for turning overall.

Default You're correct - sport dampers are too stiff on compression. There's too much...

jolting on small bumps relative to the amount of roll and dive control offerred. I'm using FSD's with stock sport springs, lightweight wheels, sticky tires and a Neuspeed rear bar. It's a very fine combination of clearance, firm but supple ride, and good body control for agressive street driving. A definite improvement over the stock S Line, which I was less than happy with.

Default I didn't explain it clearly. A stiffer rear means it rotates more readily when pushed.

So the standard thing to do with any understeering car is firm up the back end. A sway bar is the easiest way to do it in most cars. But too stiff in the rear can result in snap over-steer - which isn't good;-)

Default I have the same impression, after driving an S-line for a few months and then trying out a

Premium suspension model. The extra road feel has softened a little over time on my S-line, but I don't think it'll go much more. Next year I'm probably going go with Koni FSD's as well. Nice to see another positive testimony about them!
