I just made reservations to take the Audi factory tour in Ingolstadt
My wife and I are going to Germany at the end of March. Signed up for the general factory tour. They offer an A3 production line tour, but it's a group only tour costing 150(euros). Plus you need to reserve 2 months in advance.
It should be a blast. I love watching shows like "Modern Marvels" to see who stuff gets built.

I took a tour many times at the Alfa factory and it still surprises me
to see how a car can be created/built from nothing. I work in the aerospace field and usually I see airplanes being built but cars bulding/manufacturing process is much quicker than a car....
I am going back to italy with my wife and new baby in July (vacation)...do you guys need anything?

It's called Autostadt, and if you do search AW, you should come up with over 80 hits
Autostadt Ritz

"Tours at VW in Autostadt in Wolfsburg are walk around as you my go anywhere but production facilities. You can see museums and displays for every VAG product here.
The museum at Ingolstadt is amazing for Audi and Audi history (Horch, Auto Union...) it is available to public and worth the trip alone. Make sure you go to the European delivery center there on the grounds as well, there are very good restaurants and shops that you won't see if you just go the the museum only.
With both VW and Audi, you will need to pre book tours for the plants. You MUST try to see the assembly process if you can get on a tour. English tours are hard to come by but they do have them. Take the German tour if it's the only thing you can get. Karen Chadwick at quattroclubusa.org or phone at (262) 567-5476 can possibly set this up for you or give you a better contact. "

Thanks, I'll probably just stick with Audi(Ingolstadt)
My wife is sort of annoyed she couldn't schedule a BMW factory tour(she drives a 335ci). She might pop a vain if I were to suggest a VW tour as well.
We both have BMW motorcycles, so we may try getting a tour of BMW Motorrad factory.

How about the Schlumf collection at the crossroads of German, France and Switzerland?
