Default I know it's going to get better and I'm not complaining...

but my first fill up for the car since buying it just happened. That first full tank of gas took me 254 miles....on 12.9 gallons!

So, my first offical tank got me 19.6 MPG. I have to say that I do almost 95% in-town driving, short trips and such. (It took me a week and a half to do the 254 miles.)

I think it's going to get better, but I have been babying it since I'm still in break-in mode. When I'm done, I'll have to make sure that I don't stand on it so much lest I keep getting under 20 MPG per tank.

If you're wondering what kind of mileage a 2.0T DSG gets in almost all street driving, there you go.

Default My average is around 23/24mpg with mixed highway, backroad, and town driving with the stick.

Shortshifting around 4000rpms or so, and no full throttle.

For contrast, my old Alfa sedan with 180hp 3.0 V6 and similar curb weight got around 18mpg around town and 28/30 out on the highway. 0-60 in 7.5 and top speed of 137.

Default I'm sure it's the almost purely street driving

and the many short trips instead of fewer longer trips that's killing my mileage. No biggie.

I'm fairly certain I can make it from LA to SF on one tank if I wanted to.

Been a while since we've been up there. Might just want to take a trip soon.

Default If nothing else, plan for the Monterey Historics in August.

Book rooms now or you won't get them.

gas light doesnt' last very long just as a warning.. my jeep goes like 60 miles.. my jetta goes like 40 miles.. this was maybe just over 20..

They will get better as they breaking in.. My parents neigher got an XC90 (whatever the volvo truck is) with the V6 the day before I got mine.. he used a 1/4 tank just to get To work.. not sure what the milage was but he was in total shock compared to his legacy wagon.

Default It's an insane zoo, but it's also an orgy of cars

that would require you visit a hundred museums to match in numbers, and this case many of them run at the track!

I think this year's features are Chaparral race cars (including the famous "sucker" car), Pininfarna coachbuilders, and Alfa Romeo.

There is the Concourso Italiano at the golf course on Friday, with everything from the lowliest Fiat 600s, to Bugatti, to Ferrari, to Citroen SMs (engine by Maserati), to Cizetta Moroder V16s, as well as the practice sessions at Laguna Seca. Saturday is the main track event with the featured marque doing an initial fast parade lap, and then groups of similar year cars running short races, going up as the day progresses to more current cars. Sunday is the Pebble Beach Concour d'Elegance with the multi-million dollar cars you see in magazines and posters with the likes of Clint Eastwood, Jay Leno, and Ralph Lauren wandering about while people picnic on the grass.

Default I never get less the 22mpg from my A4 MTQ 1.8...

on the other hand, I only have 150hp. Still I see 28mpg on a straight highway trip. I like the A3 and am considering replacing my A$ with one but I'll wait for the quattro.

Quick Reply: I know it's going to get better and I'm not complaining...
