I lolerz at mosh-pit grrrl. Btw, if you tell them that you want the car, or indicate
in any manner that you'll simply if you can't have THAT car, you'll pay top dollar.
Other than that, simply ask, then ask for some goodies if they won't come off the MSRP. Edmonds shows dealer cost, so negotiate from that price, which is what they paid Audi for the car.
Your best deal maker are you shoes, be prepaired to walk out.
I had to do that, and the next morning on a Sat at 9:00a I got a call from Audi. "Hey, I think we can still work that deal.." Be mature, but don't let them pee on your leg and then believe them when they say it's raining out.

You're in a very nice position. I wish I could have waited until now to make the switch, but at
least Audi has had some decent incentives along the way (got $1500 off).
If possible, find out how long the car has been on the lot. I'd think this late in the year, you could get at least $500 below invoice.

I got the last '07 on Barrier's lot
It was about $2000 off MSRP. It was just what I wanted too. Color I wanted, options I wanted, except for the missing sunroof, which is why I got the deal to get one installed for an extra $900. I took it in Monday to get installed and still haven't gotten it back. I'm hoping it will be done today. I got an base model 07' Taurus rental and am really missing my car right now. Can't wait to get it back.

But that incentive was given to dealers from Audi.
They were able to offer under invoice on lower spec'd A3's because they were still making money with the incentive. The margins on the A3 are very small. At $2k under invoice with no incentive they would be paying YOU to take it off their lot. Not saying it can't be done, just something to consider.

Got $5K off retail in July...
This was on a $36K car, so the discount equated to just over $3K off invoice. If you are ready to buy, get your ducks in a row, wait till the last couple of days of the month, and go for it!
