Hi I want to put in an ITG air filter in my new A3 but I'm wondering if it's something I can do myself or do I have to take it into my mechanic? Any advice? Thanks!

The engine cover is hard to remove if this is the first time. There are 4 grommets-- one located on each corner of the ec. Each grommet is inserted onto a peg.
You'll have to remove the air flow box, MAF sensor, and intake hose to turbo...easy. Next, pop the grommets loose from the pegs by pulling up on the ec one corner at a time. It's going to take a little muscle to pop each corner up, TRY NOT TO BREAK any of the pegs.
Once you have the ec off, just unscrew the screws [9 or 1O] on the bottom of the ec. It will open up like a clam shell. After you replace your filter, lubricant the grommets before you place the ec back on...this will make it a little easier to remove next time.
