Default Is you wife's Jetta white?

If so, it is used to be mine. I traded it in when I got my A3. Hope she enjoys it!

I would love to be there, but unfortunately right now I'm stationed in the mighty metropolis of Lemoore. I make it down to my old stomping grounds in San Diego maybe once or twice a month to see my wife who teaches first grade in National City.

Default so you're military?

i had a feeling, since it was so well-kept... i would like to applaud you on a very, very tastefully modded car!

did you have it chipped w/ intake at some point?

Yes, 21+ years in the canoe club. The car was never chipped, but I used both a P-flo and EVOMS CAI intake depending on weather. Have you changed the shocks yet? They were getting a little bouncy before I traded it in. Come to think of it, I wish my A3 sport seats had as much support as the Recaros did!

Default same shocks are in there....

how many miles were on the clock when they went on? ride feels firm but nice. there's a little clunking up front when turning, so i thought maybe TREs, but I guess not.

Why the poly bushings? did you track it? I love how flat it is through corners! makes me jealous every time i drive it.

I figured it had a CAI because the airbox and filter that were in it looked BRAND new

...and yes, the Recaros are wonderful!!

oh, and she loves it too

gf used to have a 1998.5 2.8 A4, tip, fwd... then a 2002 Cabrio GLX, but that was too slow for her we just so happened to find your MK4 on Miramar's lot when we went in to get her cabrio's tranny checked... and I fell in love the first time I saw it... went back the next day and drove it... took it home a day later.

Default Re: same shocks are in there....

I forget how many miles I had on it when the shocks/spring/swaybars went on...I think somewhere around 18-20,000 miles.

I never tracked it, all the suspension and brake mods were done to survive the 5/805/163...etc... freeways, Sand Diego drivers and the stupid things they're prone to do.

Curiously enough the factory airbox only seemed to appear before going to the dealer or being smogged.

My A3 will get the same treatment, well except for the BBK, that was a touch of overkill!

You had to of come across the car at Miramar right after I traded it in; they weren't planning to keep as a used car on their lot. Glad it worked out for you.

Do what I did. Ride it hard, put it away wet.

Default how'd you feel the CAI improved the car?

better top end? throttle response?

...i think the BBK and seats are the best part of the car, personally... it's just all brought together so well.

did you put the spacers on because you needed to clear the BBK, or just because you liked the look?

The CAI, at least to me, provided a better throttle response.

Tirerack said I needed the front spacers to be able to clear the calipers. I added the rear spacers for the looks.
