Default Lean burn retrofit

Anyone know if it will be possible when the US switches over to low sulphur gas, to retrofit the lean burn tech into the US A3s?

If the engine is the same... then it would likely just be a software change

Default I believe lean burn is only during light or no throttle use

you should check the european websites and convert their L/km to mi/gal

the issue is that the US doesn't have the NOx catalysts that are found on the EU units.

Euro 2.0Ts don't have it either so a retrofit would be kind of hard.

From Car& Driver:
"A major benefit of FSI is its ability to run lean air-to-fuel ratios, but there's a side effect of more NOX production. Unfortunately, the catalysts that can clean the extra NOX would be contaminated by the high sulfur content of U.S. fuels, so although A3s in Europe run lean, they don't in the States."

So it looks like software + catalysts...
