Default RyanA3 - Translation of some words, please...

1. Are "driving lights" = DRL?

2. What are side lights? (parking lights, I think)??????

3. Combi switch vs. switch vs. multiple-switch? (Multiple has rotary and other switches, Combi has rotating and pull-out for fogs, switch is rotary only)??????

Default RyanA3 - it looks like there are only a few combinations but multiple production revisions

For example: Why did you buy the "F" switch instead of the "T" or the "P" switch; which both are of newer date revisions.

I am assuming that the term "headlight range control" is the DRL switch, correct?

Can you post pics with the part numbers?

Default I have translated some...

"headlight range control" I think is the manual headlight leveling system available in Europe (and other places?)

The other terms are still a mystery.

Default Can somebody put together a complete how-to article?

With all these questions and opinions, I find it impossible to get something useful out of this discussion.
If somebody can put together a well organized article, I guess it should be a nice addition to the AW tech section:
- part # per car package
- the installation how-to

If it comes in a .pfd or .doc format for download, even better.
Then, maybe we can put together a group buy.

Default Patronus - I have the same question as you...

Which switch includes DRL?

Default You could find out very easily if someone with Bi-xenons would remove their switch

and post the part number.....

Default The US part number should reveal the magic phrasing that Audi uses for the DRL switch...

For instance,

8P1 941 531 AC multi-function switch for auto
matic headlights, side lights,
headlights, front fog lights
and coming-home

is the US part for A3's with the Convenience package, front fogs, and either halogen or non-bi-xenon headlights.

The corresponding switch that adds rear fog(s) is 8P1 941 531 F.

Default The "P" switch is the same as the "F" switch, but lacks the auto headlight function

that's part of the Convenience package. However, the "T" and the "F" switch appear to be identical.
