Here is some info from a reliable source:

OH, the guys that posted the L is not in the list you posted, well it wont be ;-) I bet the L is the USA switch only, these all being Euro switches, its not gonna be there, the L. That may of been covereed already, just thougth I'd add it.

The switches are fairly straight foward once you know what Audi terminology is...
Some of the switches are front fog only, some may be rear only, some are both front and rear, that's easy enough
Headlight range is for NON xenon cars only
Coming home- easy enough
The two MEX = Mexico, rule those out straight away.
OH, BIG important thing to know.... the dates used in the swtches, like 05/03 > 10/04 etc these are BUILD dates!!! not registered or what the guys think their cars are!! do NOT llet anyone choose the switch based on the date they think their car was built or registered!!! the only way to do this is from the parts program and a chassis number. The dates against the part are VERY different to registered dates.
Automatice driving lights must be Audi working for cars with xenon headlamps with automatice headlamp range control ie no headlamp aim adjuster will be in the headlamp switch

All the switch part numbers are just combinations of the above features and production dates.

The chassis numbers, please see the attached prodcution date list. You need to look up the persons chassis number against this list. This list ties the car down to a 4 week build date which is close enough for the headlamp switches to be worked out. IMPORTANT, look out for the A or B in the chassis number, that is VERY important, make sure you look up the A or B from their number correctly in the pdf list, the A + B chassis numebrs relate to quite different build dates.


Ok, now since he was saying a lot about build dates, I'll include the original set of part #s including all of the info. Don't look at RH, right hand drive.

I'm late for a meeting or I would seperate each item, and take out RH and MEX. Maybe someone can help out.

I currently have the 8P1 941 531 AL switch which contans bi-xenons with Halogen DRLs, comming home and front fogs. Lastley, my build date on the door plaquerd is 9/05.
