Default Liquid Blue & The Dealers Rant About It Being A Feminine Color

I went to the dealer today to check out the car a little more. I started telling them what I was looking for and the dealer went into a long lecture about how horrible liquid blue is and that it has to be custom ordered.

First he was kind of like - you know, its one of those colors. Kind of hinting it was "unmanly". Only women buy it. Than he told me that it was a "woman's" color if there is such a thing. Women buy the color and that its feminine. He has never seen an A3 in it, blah, blah.

I guess the only good color is gray/silver/black.

I am guy and I like it and I am not gay so I dont want to say. I actually like some of the other colors Audi has including the orange which we will never see in the states.

Its funny how color adverse we have become on cars. I remember from when I was a kid seeing cars in colors that today are considered disgusting.

Default remember one thing...

He is first and foremost a salesman and will always try to sell what they have on the lot. They will tell you all kinds of BS about the things that you want and they don't have on hand.

When I bought my S4 the sales guy told me I shouldn't want the Tip with paddle shifters or suede alcantara seats (cause they show dirt, etc etc) since they didn't have any cars in stock with what I wanted. Anyway I went to another dealer and ordered EXACTLY what I wanted, including a custom paint color (Avus silver).

So go ahead and get the liquid blue and don't listen to the idiot. Get exactly what you want and you'll have no regrets.

Default So either order from the sales manager or find another dealer. No reason for that BS.

I agree, colours are a matter of personal taste.

If I get another A3, it will probably be Dakar beige.

Default a truer word has never been said......

I would absolutely go back there and go into a long story about how you went to another dealer, and the sales person said that he received a small perk because you ordered the blue, etc. get creative, but blow his mind.

Default Do you really care

what they think about your choice in car color? Are they making the payments for you? Then why let it bother you. That said the sales schmuck was a jacka$$ for saying that...typical car sales attitude though. P

Default Yep. Ditto the thread replies

When I told my dealer at Livermore Audi that waiting for a spec'd to my order car would not bother me, that lead to a 5 min. long reply from him.

Look, it's your insurance payment, your gas, you are the one who'll look at over your shoulder when you park it.

Get exactly what you want. Or go to another dealer.

I'm color adverse to Audi's "pearl white" - never understood why it was so popular and expensive
