Default lots of fault codes! 65535, 01312, 00532, etc

Hello!

I'm new to this forum. I just got a A3 which has been off the road for a year or more, it is showing up a lot of fault codes, the airbag warning light is on as is the ABS light. I've listed the codes and what the diagnostic report said about them, the one I'm most interested in is the 65535 code, I have that in a few places but it says in the description aspect of the report 'system OK (If fault still evident, check control unit and associated wiring)' I've been looking online and have found that this particular code can mean pretty bad news! The airbag is also throwing up a 00532 code, saying voltage supply, value too low, intermittent, the airbag code can be cleared, the light goes out for a second and then comes back on again. The ABS light goes out when the codes a are deleted but a few minutes later the fault returns, I think that might just be the right speed sensor though. Anyway I've attached details of the report I got! I would be grateful for any advice anyone might have in relation to this. Thanks in advance!!

Unfortunately most of the readers here don't have any experience with A3s before the 2006 model year. You might want to try one of the Euro-based forums such as www.audi-sport.net

What sound like your wiring is are damaged and it's setting off all the codes. Has been in an in front right side accident? If not check all the wiring on that side of the car. A few breaks in the wiring could cause this codes. Good luck keep as posted.

00285 - ABS Wheel Speed Sensor Front Right
00285 - ABS Wheel Speed Sensor Front Right (G45): Signal Outside Specifications
00285 - ABS Wheel Speed Sensor Front Right (G45): Electrical Fault in Circuit
Possible Causes

Open Circuit in Wiring from/to ABS Wheel Speed Sensor Front Right (G45)
ABS Wheel Speed Sensor Front Right (G45) faulty

Possible Solutions

Check Wiring from/to ABS Wheel Speed Sensor Front Right (G45)
Check ABS Wheel Speed Sensor Front Right (G45)

00285 - ABS Wheel Speed Sensor Front Right (G45): Mechanical Malfunction
Possible Causes

Excessive Air Gap between ABS Wheel Speed Sensor Front Right (G45) and Rotor
Short Circuit in Wiring from/to ABS Wheel Speed Sensor Front Right (G45)
ABS Wheel Speed Sensor Front Right (G45) faulty

Possible Solutions

Check ABS Wheel Speed Sensor Front Right (G45) Installation
Check Wiring from/to ABS Wheel Speed Sensor Front Right (G45)
Check ABS Wheel Speed Sensor Front Right (G45)

00532 - Supply Voltage B+
00532 - Supply Voltage B+: Signal too Low
Possible Causes

Wiring/Connectors from/to Control Module faulty
Power Supply (Battery/Generator) faulty

Possible Solutions

Check/Repair Wiring/Connectors from/to Control Module
Check Power Supply (Battery/Generator)

Special Notes

When found in an individual control module, it's most likely a local source (e.g. wiring/connectors).
When found in multiple control modules at the same time, it's most likely a common source (e.g. ground spot, battery, generator).
Intermittent codes are often stored during low outside temperature when the battery capacity goes down and may be ignored.
Common with 16946/P0562/001378 - System Voltage: Too Low stored in other control modules.

00537 - Lambda (Oxygen Sensor) Regulation
00537 - Lambda (Oxygen Sensor) Regulation: Upper Limit
Possible Symptoms

Lambda Control inactive
Engine running rough

Possible Causes

Wiring and/or Connector(s) from/to Lambda Sensor(s) faulty
Lambda Control/Sensor(s) faulty
Injector(s) faulty/blocked
Fuel Pressure Regulator faulty
Fuel Pump faulty
Fuel Tank empty
Vacuum/air leaks

Possible Solutions

Check Lambda Control/Sensors
Check/Repair Wiring and/or Connector(s) from/to Lambda Sensor(s)
Check/Replace/Clean Injector(s)
Check/Replace Fuel Pressure Regulator
Check/Replace Fuel Pump
Check Fuel Level
Vacuum/smoke test hoses/valves and replace leaking ones

00537 - Lambda (Oxygen Sensor) Regulation: Lower Limit
Possible Symptoms

Lambda Control inactive
Engine running rough

Possible Causes

Activated Charcoal Filter Solenoid Valve 1 (N80) leaking/sticking

01312 - Powertrain Data Bus: Faulty
Possible Symptoms

Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) ON
Immobilizer Communication blocked / Engine Start blocked

Possible Causes

Databus Wiring and/or Connector(s) faulty
Control Module(s) faulty

Possible Solutions

Check Databus Wiring and/or Connector(s)
Check Control Module(s)

First before anything else, I'd check the voltage. With the engine running it should be ~13.8v and with the engine off it should be over 12v. If the voltage is low, either the alternator and/or battery may need to be replaced. Check the belt that drives the alternator too.

Next if you have a way to clear the codes do that and see if they come up again at a later date.

Good luck..
