<center><img src="http://www.grinty.ndo.co.uk/54xrs.jpg"></center><p>As promised, the review of my 2.0 T DSG Sportback:
Well that's it's official run in period over (1000 miles) although I have not been very good at sticking to the limits...
I have found the car to be highly entertaining and it's 'goatie' certainly increases the double takes. I am still unconvinced by the front but my
wife loves it and as the car is black I guess it's not as 'in yer face' as other colours. There have been no worrying 'glitches' nor unexpected warnings.
The oil consumption is not readable (only 1K miles tho')
The handling is very precise and doing over the UK legal limit down small country lanes is far too easy and a sometimes frightening thing to do.
The pull on full throttle is exhilerating and the noise from the engine with the DSG on auto is like a true formula 1/indy car - glorious!
There are no rattles, loose trim, finish or paint faults. I do however have two criticisms: firstly the cabin noise (from the road) is quite annoying but
this may be that I have been used to a very quiet (in comparison) previous vehicle (Jeep GC).
My second whinge is the DSG box. Have had auto box cars for years now and having tried the 2.0 TDI A3 with DSG I was happy to have it with mine - mistake.
There appears to be two modes of operation of this box from standstill. The first is the granny mode - it takes up so slowly that in many cases you would
annoy other users for the amount of time it takes to get going. The second mode is a full on racing start with tyres squeeling, ASP lights flashing,
rev limiters in and you are up to speed in a blinding flash. There appears to be no happy medium. It is a bit like a simple on/off switch. What I have to
do is as soon as the racing start begins is back off completely - this works ok but if conditions are wet/slippery then I have to adjust the lift off point.
My conclusion is that Audi can probably mod this with a firmware upgrade and all will be well, but I also think that 200+ BHP is too much for this front
wheel drive car. There is just not enough rubber on the road. I love the car and am more than happy to sing it's praises and keep it for a few years and happily
buy another, but will opt for quattro next time.

I'd rather have my hand control the box than a computer...While DSG may be a big improvement to Auto it's still controlled by a computer...
Would you mind in finding out what turbo you have on your 2.0T FSI, Borg Warner ? Garrett ? just so we can find out what turbo comes as stock on the new engine, Cheers...

mmm...now you have me stumped. I had a quick look last night but the light was not good and there is so little space to see past the engine cover.
I'll see if I can find my inspection mirror and get back to you. It might come down to photographs and your expert opinion though!
