I don't remember how much the cable was from the dealer, but I do remember it seemed outrageous for just a cable when I bought one for the allroad.

With the proper tool you have to release all the pins from CD, CAN &amp; LINE OUT sections and re-install them into into the new three piece connector that comes with the cable.

I think cutting the audio pass through from the left and right channels along with the ground of the CD section (which is used for SAT) and a simple adapter from one of the many harness builders will be easier and cheaper solution.

In this pic you can see that Ground and Left and Right Audio channels are all that are used in the current stock setup. The CAN lines carry the info for SAT station number and song info.
