The EOS too!
I've seen pictures of the upcoming EOS convertible interior and it had the very same design. Seems VAG cars are not made for me anymore these days, with the notable exception of the New Beetle (leg space a-plenty!), but hey, I'm driving that one already. 
I hope they're going to offer it with the 2.0T FSI engine some time soon.

It vanished
I had bigger problems with the A4 but also noticed it in the A3. Today, on my second full day out with my new 3.2, I didn't even notice it anymore. Either I got used to it, or the excitement of driving the car erased the former annoyance. Or maybe callouses already?
