Default I ordered my racks from these guys. Quick delivery ...

The initial assembly & clamp-down is a little complicated, but after that, the bars can be installed/removed within 5 minutes.

The only downside to these bars is that open sky can't be retracted; the edge of the glass panel knocks against the front supports.

Default Not being able to open the sunroof wasn't a show-stopper for me.

I don't have the racks on the car unless they are being used. And then, whatever is on the racks will gererate enough wind noise, that I wouldn't want the sunroof open anynay.

I rarely open the roof when its on as well, thought it was worth mentioning, though.

What do the non-aero ones look like and how much wind noise difference is there between the 2?

In the summer I have the bikes on the roof often enough I don't want to take the rack off and on every other day so they generally stay on all summer. Trying to figure out the best racks for my new A3.

Default It's a steel square bar coated in black plastic...

In the picture the bar is greyed out for some reason.

Default Re: A few pictures of mine installed

So it looks like I have 3 options.

Audi bars. Someone said they are noisey. Allows sunroof operation?

Thule aero bars (the ones Gettysburg has on his car). new style, new style wind defelctor, no sunroof operation.

Thule non aero bars (the ones abarthol has). same square bars as the thule ones I have on my other car. allows sunroof operation
