and a set of the summer only on the wifes mazda 3. i like the 4s but the summer version is more grippy.
if you have winter rubber why are you considering an all-season tire?

I don't think that A/S tires are necessarily tougher than summer performance ones, just generally longer lived and less sticky. A few summer tires (like General Exclaim UHP) are built very light, though.
Set up a monitor on tire rack and discount tire for your size - they frequently clear out some very good tires that have been upgraded or discontinued. I picked up a set of RE050A's for $91 each last fall, and they're superb. We aren't looking for the ultimate here, and we don't drive at 10/10ths. Improvements are generally very small, and durability, quietness, and overall balance are more important than ultimate grip.
If you look through Audi parts on Ebay, there's a tire company selling lightly used sets in 225/45 and 235/45 x 17 pretty cheap; a very good way to try a particular tire. They're about $170 a set, or $90 a pair, to your door. No guarantees, but I just picked up a pair of Michelin Pilot PS2 in excellent condition 235/45 x17, to try on the front of my car for extra traction after flashing.
PS - check load rating - you might do better with a 92 or 94W if you're looking for toughness. Check on the tire forum.
