Need your help: dealer wants non-refundable deposit to order
Claims the config I want will be difficult to sell:
DSG
Black/Black
Sport
Nav+
Is he nuts, or am I out of touch with what consumers are looking for to think that this is a config that would sell easily.
The dealer I have already placed an order with didn't have that stipulation. From him I ordered:
DSG
Black/Black
Premium
Nav+ w/ Sound
What do you guys think?

yeah, think it's illegal, and that's not a difficult config to sell..
he probably wants the deposit because the A3's are tough sells right now anyway they come, he probably just wants to make some money off of you in the meantime. Move on to another dealer.

it may be the absence of xenons
Some may think that if you get a car with nav it might as wel have xenons and bose also. With me xenons would be a deal-breaker and that may be the reason that the dealer is apprehensive about ordering a car like that. Also what region are you in?

As a dealer, I wouldn't...
like to order a car without cold weather pkg. That is probably the reason why they are telling you that.
I would consider it a threat, I would tell them off!

Re: How large a deposit? Why would you back out anyway?
Dealer wants me to sign a document stating I will not request a refund.
I am not planning to back out, but just testing the dealer. I have not heard good things about them and they claim that all that is in the past now. But when they ask me to sign a non-refund agreement, that has me thinking again.
Which is why I asked. If it's normal, then no biggie, but if it's not, then it just tells me a little more about that dealer.
