noob questions: Are people happy with the open sky roof? Any problems with APR software?

I may need rear seats some time next year.
I have in my head that I want a used 2.0T with open sky, and that I might want to add the APR software for the monster torque steer
.
It occurs to me that the open sky might leak, or bake the interior in Texas heat.
It also occurs to me that the APR software might blow up the engine.
Any thoughts, complaints, suggestions?
I have a Yukon for Home Depot runs, and I will probably keep my TT for track usage, so the APR software isn't a deal killer. But it might nudge me toward the 3.2.

I just bought an '06 A3 2.0 MT. No problems with Open Sky, however the retractable sunshades are opaque, not solid, so some filtered sunlight comes through, but not much. It's not a problem for me here in Michigan. With respect to torque steer, even when I accelerate aggressively, there is very little torque steer. The 2.0 engine is a gem- quiet and smooth with gobs of torque, and I can barely feel any turbo lag. Acceleration is smooth and linear.

Happens usually in moderate to strong cross-winds. Sounds a lot like loud radio interference. Hard to reproduce for the dealer, but it's been infrequent enough that it hasn't bothered us too much.

10 months with OS and I love it, no buzzes or rattles. I did tint the heck out of them (and the rest of the A3) with fancy Pinnacle nonmetallic non-conductive ceramic tint. I do park in a garage at work so I haven't had a full year yet, I am guessing that the whole car tint does help.

Mini's version of OpenSky... 2 sunroofs.
The shades are perforated, not completely solid material - I think the A3 is the same. That little Mini Cooper gets hot in the Austin sun.
Tint would help a great deal, and help preserve the interior as well. My sunroof is not tinted, but I would chekc to make sure it can be done. If you're in Austin, contact Alta Mere on 183. They have always done exceptional work.

... have the dealer align the roof properly; there's a service bulletin on this IIRC.
You can also try carefully cleaning all of the gasket and sealing areas (pine needles and tree gunk are prime culprits) and lubing the gaskets with silicone spray (esp. the rear), which fixed mine without the need to re-align the roof.

I would skip that option.
We had one last summer as a loaner and it was on one of the hotter weekends of the year and we drove that around and the A/C could not keep up.
