Default Is it normal for some resistance when shifting from 1st to 2nd?

I find it takes a little more strength to shift it from 1st into 2nd. All the other upshifts are very easy (2-3, 3-4 ... etc).

I usually shift 1-2 at about 3000rpm. The "resistance" is less if I shift earlier, at say 2500rpm.

Is this normal? Or is there something wrong with my 2nd gear synchro?

thanks in advance!

Default 3000 RPM? Why so low?

Wind that sucker out!

How many miles on the car? Might be time to change the fluids? Do you hear any grinding? Has someone else driven the car w/o you telling them the problem and they've noticed it?

Default Yeah, why? I usually shift into 2nd gear around 4000 RPM... *edit*

just be aware of your throttle tip-in. This should help smooth things out a little.

Plus, this car has too long of a clutch travel and synching things up requires PERFECT timing on the part of the driver.

Default I've noticed the same thing, but ...

like others have said, I also tend to shift into 2nd at around 4000 rpm...

All in all I find up and down-shifting into 2nd a bit more tricky than other gears on this car.

speaking of tranny fluid, at about what miles should one do the change under normal daily driving?

Default 1 -2 Shift...

I haven't been very impressed with the manual trans. The 1 - 2 shift takes a lot of concentration to avoid jerkiness. I haven't noticed higher effort, just not a smooth transition.

Default no grinding at all, just find it takes more effort to push it into 2nd

particularly when I rev it up in 1st gear before shifting

it almost feels like I need to give it a bit of force to push the stick into 2nd
