Thanks for all the archived info. goin in this weekend for my splash guards. I HOPE it's a quick fix by now. I also seem to be having a LOT of hesitation (lag?) off the line.

My shade screen latch broke again the day before I took my car in for the 5K service; this was almost 2 weeks ago. It was broke when I test drove the car but they fixed it before I took delivery.
The supposedly new & improved replacement latch has arrived. I will be taking my car in this morning for the repair. I will keep the forum updated on this issue.

It seems to improve when the engine is warm. Same goes, for me at least, with downshifting. On the positive, with power available even in 6th gear, you don't really need that much to downshift. I'm used to my A4 though where I use downshifting to brake most of the time and it's not that rough and lagging.

The Audi service manager said the new latch is identical to the old one. He and I can only speculate that the new one is made of a more durable material. He told me that one time they had a recall to replace a tie-rod and he could not see a physical difference but the problem was solved with the replacement; I guess it was a different grade of material.
