possibly considering an A3 notice a lot of people have Auto, not manual

is that the way to go? Havnet done much research on this option. A guy cruised in where I work with an '06, he said he would have rather gotten an automatic, he said the shift is way better and there is no way to shift quicker a manual. Is this true? Any input would be great! Thanks guys. Also how hard is it to find a Sprint blue? thanks!

I have DSG, and it's an awesome tranny. What you lose in fun from a manual is made up in other useful benefits. Overall, unless you are a manual-tranny junky, the DSG is an excellent alternative.
I would definitely consider myself a "manual-tranny junky," but when I run the DSG in sport mode, I almost (almost) forget how much I love driving a stick w/ a clutch pedal. No other auto I have ever driven has made me feel that way. And that's not even including the awesome the paddle shifting action.
If this was my only car, it would definitely be a manual because I can't go without one. But because I already have a couple of manual tranny cars, the DSG makes a perfect compliment.

I find it very jerky in traffic and just overall way to boring to drive.
It never engages puts me in the part of the power band I exactly want to be stuff like that..
The benefits of it being automatic vs clutching all the time in traffic are completely lost by the jerkiness. I'd rather have torque converter in traffic.

the moment I drove it, and the quick shifts keep the motor in it's powerband. The 2.0T and DSG is simply an awesome combo.
My dad lives up in the foothills between Auburn and Placerville. The DSG is perfect for the twisties, and is also perfect for freeway cruising.
Up to this point my daily drivers have been modded Miatas that I've tracked and a/x'd. I'd don't feel I'm giving anything up with the DSG.

Full automatic is very smooth. Manual mode can be quite jerky until warmed up and sometimes performs lazy shifts when going 1st-2nd or 2nd-3rd.

were to get a 6MT, you would probably have to special order one. Out of the 8 A3s on the lot when I bought my car, only 1 had the 6MT and I got it

It is ok, if I lived more in the country without stop and go driving, I would get a manual. The gas mileage isn't really great with the DSG, 26 average and I drive like a grandpa to get 26, and in left foot braking snow situations the throttle body closes and really eff's up the driving experience.
But day to day in the rush hour traffic, it is real nice to have an "automatic" manual trans.
