But for the record, the other car I cross shopped the A3 with was a Maserati. Sure it's not a 5 door fwd hatch, but it was the only other car on the list, so in my eyes a valid competitor. The 1 series has more in common with the A3 than that

The point is any car can be compared - and the 1 series gets compared with the A3 a lot on both BMW and Audi forums.

Agreed thanks. There are venues for venting that might be productive when somebody has issue with
a mod. If they have a bone to pick and don't want to involve others - be it mods or forum members - they need to email me directly.
