Default recent installation: trailer hitch + bike rack

Default That's a nice alternative for those without roof rails.

How hard was the hitch installation?

Default Very nice work! I like the idea of a rear mounted vs. roof mounted bike

because you avoid possible scratches and/or debris falling from a muddy mountain bike attached to the roof.

Is the "Curt class I trailer hitch" a special custom hitch? From Len's posting, it looks like there was only a prototype made so far...

Yep, that's the one. The version they actually put in production has a traditional exposed horizontal receiver, otherwise it's identical to the one shown on my site that Joe and I designed.

It's no longer a prototype. You can buy it online, I got mine here:

Yeah, i like the look of the roof bars, but this was a much cheaper and more convenient alternative for me.

Default I think it was 2.5hrs from when he pulled in to when he left....

...and that was for the hitch install *and* full wiring!
