Reduce wheel spin?
I got the APR program and am happy. But on take off the wheels spin too much. They also spin shifting from 1st to second.
Any suggested upgrades to reduce the spin? Everything is stock.
Maybe it's just my tires, they are the stock Dunlop tires which now have 22K on them.
Tire suggestions (stock wheels)? Any comments on the Nitto 555? Falken FK 451?
Car is a 2006 A3 2.0t manual w/ sport package.
I had an 2001 s4 before this car maybe I miss the quattro.
Thank you very much
Rick

One of the reasons I've been waffling on doing a program on the car.
I can spin the wheels easily stock, but with the added power and torque of an APR program, it would be even easier.
I'm sure tires make a dramatic difference, but even then, it just means I'd wear those out more quickly.
I'm now leaning on spending the money to program the A4 instead.
Good luck!

There's your answer. Why even buy an Audi without the quattro ? Granted Audi likes to sell non-quattro A.3's but without the best all wheel drive on the plant it's just a car. The benefits of quattro are immediately available in any rainstorm. The bucks separate the 3.2 from the 2.0t and many like to tweek the 2.0t but it's about driving control and safety. Subaru make a fast AWD for under $28k.

Stickier tires will help. Firmer suspension - especially rear will help keep weight on the nose
during acceleration. Be careful about making it too stiff, or the car may snap over-steer. Finally, since you have a manual trans car, there are a number of mechanical limited slip devices you can install. Price for the unit is around $1000 and allow a similar amount for installation.
It may be cheap to "chip" the car, but power is nothing without control ;-P

driving habits...
A lot of spin is the result of driver technique or lack thereof: too much pedal, powering out of turns too aggressivly, finding the right shift points etc. Simply modulating the pedal & learning to drive w/ the added power & better tires will make a huge difference. I raced 240hp Mini Coopers w/o LSD for years so I have a unique beckground in this regard.
-After 2 months, a track event and a set of PS2's I feel much better about my A3 experience. LSD would do the trick (so would a limited slip diff.)
