Replace the A3's card tray with a 3rd cup holder / Treo / TomTom.
<b> Item #8P0 862 534C 5PR
</b>
Not available thru U.S. dealers. EuroPee'n brokers only.
<b>for concert II only</b>
We have some n00bs in the family so once in a while we should revisit some of the silly parts out there. Europe gets ALL of the options you can imagine. Here goes: You can remove the card tray and install a cup holder. If you run a few wires you can even light-up the symbol on it.

<img src="http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a279/iMryanmac/tech/3.jpg">
Anyhow, the real reason for the update... The cupholder wouldn't work to hold a Palm pilot, which is too wide and the screen would be blocked. But it's the perfect size for a Treo or any other smart-phone. The space is perfect. The phone won't bounce around.
This is specifically cool for anyone with a smart/pda phone who is running TomTom or similar navigation on their phone.

The screen of the phone ends up at the perfect spot, above the rim of the cupholder.

If anyone else here uses a Treo please raise your hand.
There should be more info on the diy in my AW registry. Click the middle pic in my sig and click on DIY Card Tray removed - Cup Holder installed.

Hopefully someone with nav will post up a solution. Maybe there is an option for you.
I just didn't want someone ordering that specific part #.
Anything is better than the cardtray. Which you can get stuck easily, which may require a trip to the dealer.

FOUND IT! Search is your friend.
I entered: cup holder nav
This guy just replaced the face of the new cup holder with his old card holder face. It's the width of the face that is the issue.<ul><li><a href="https://forums.audiworld.com/a3/msgs/79998.phtml">click here, direct link</a></li></ul>
