Default Replacement tire suggestions

Just got my 2006 A3 sport DSG but am not too crazy about my Michelins; every thing else I love. I'm thinking of keeping the stock sport wheels and changing to Goodyear F1s of Mich. PS2 in 235/45/17 size; What do you folks think? Any other suggestions.

Default I have had both the Bridgestone S-03 Poles positions and the

Goodyear GS-D3s in a 225 (W,Y,Z)R 17. I like the Goodyears, since they have just about as good grip and they lasted about twices as long as the S-03s. Some people here have been talking about Toyo T-1R (sp?) I think. Go do a forum search for Toyo tires and see what you come up with. I am going to replace the Primeras on my A3 pretty soon too. Need more grip.

Default For the performance and durability...

Michelin PS2's are hard to beat. Expensive, yes, however they probably outlast many high performance tires by 50% and are only about 20% more expensive. Do the math. Michelins turn out to be pretty cheap tires by the mile across their whole product range. This is my experience over the last 30 years.

PS2s don't last at all.

I agree. PS2s have exceptional grip but do not last long. I had them on my Clio V6 and had to replace every 10,000 miles, even with moderate driving style... But nothing else gripped as well so it's always going to be a trade off...

Default Generally Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3's are your best choice

Out perform both S-03's and PS2's and can run @ $50 less per tire. Check out Tireracks comparisons, tests, and user reviews.

Toyo T1's are also a great choice, not sold by tirerack so there is no good comparison test.

Default I agree. Michelins seem to have the least problems as well,

I am talking about balancing, roundness, etc..
