Default You really gotta check out everyones dynos carefully

Alot of companies are claming 50hp gains or so and really that is not true.. People just randomly add them to the peak numebrs and assume that means ungodly amounts of power.

The truth is that at peak power rpm ranges the turbo can't flow alot more air then stock. So actual peak power is say only 20 more hp then stock. That does not mean that you dont' make 60hp somewhere in the midrange.. But at that point you are talking about 140 to 200hp change for the 60hp gain.

Its all just how you look at the marketing. I am really glad REVO took this approach. In testing and talking with my rep I kept bringing up that they should go with the marketing strategy of showing actual dynos and pointing out the area under the curve and the difference between peak hp gains and the big gains down low. Glad to see they took this approach. I feel its much more honest and actualy can be educational for people who aren't used to this sort of power band.

Default dur, i understand that

APR's closer to the claimed ~46 hp crank increase (210-176=33whp increase) if you take in account parasitic loss.

Revo is showing more like 19whp would would equate to around a 22hp crank increase.

Yeah I know the dynos were done on different days after it's been broken in more, but 19 and 33 aren't that close.

on the vortex

Default Re: The Dyno Dynamics dyno typically returns accurate but comparatively low results...

As long as you run a base line on any dyno then do the work to the car or bike then run it again on the same dyno to find the difference in work performed you will get an idea of the hp and tq gained the peak may be different from dyno to dyno but the increase from base line should be the same thats why it is important to get a base line on the dyno you plan on using after you do work to the car or bike.

Default no really you just don't get it...

your example is based on one hp number at 6000rpm and one number at 5500 rpm. You are looking purely at peak numbers and not even seeing that they are at different rpm points.

This is exactly why REVO posted their numbers as they did so that you could see exactly where the most area under the curve was gained.

I could say I made a 250hp increase if I use 400rpm and 5500 rpm as my two peak data points.

Default True, but your argument is actually a bit backwards in this case

If you instead compare APR's number to the same stock RPM point (5500), the difference is even greater than +33whp... which strengthens his argument that APR is making significantly more power up in this range.
