My Silver A3 quattro looks superb, but is let down by the front calipers.
Has anyone got any tips on rectifyng this. Is caliper lacquer the way? or would Smooth Hammerite do the job?
AL B have you got round to doing yours? or are you too busy chasing TT's?

certain types of wheel cleaner can cause brake calipers to go rusty by eating away at the caliper plating, result surface rust.i would use a caliper paint, but it is a bitch of a job so be warned and pay good attention to the instructions as it is not something you could do in an hour or so.

remember that most of the braking is done by the front brakes, this generates more brake dust and when this combines with water(rain) and wheel cleaner it's only a matter of time before you kiss bye bye to nice looking calipers.temp may play a part but it's difficult to say.

Hi Peter,
No I've not got round to doing my calipers yet. I thought about hammerite, and halfords plain-and-simple silver paint...but in the end I bought some proper caliper lacquer from Demon Tweeks.
It's a big job with this stuff though. You've got to apply it, then let it harden for 24 hours!! So I'm waiting for a day that is sunny/dry for 24hours, and when I don't have to use the car! When's that likely to happen...probably never.![Frown](https://www.audiworld.com/forums/images/smilies/frown.gif)

You could wait a long time for the right conditions - I might try the Hammerite, after all it should be easy to remove if it does not look right

Not much point having a roadster and driving with the top up!
Mind you at my age the hair is already a bit thin on top, so, if you see a man in a roadster wearing a baseball cap streaming thin blonde hair, wave, it just might be me.
