Hi Gang,
Its been a while since I posted here. I just got done with basically a restoration of my S3. This included repairing, updating and servicing every mechanical system.
For me that was a given, once I had completed that I was still left with a paint job, which looked great to most folks.
But for me because I am too AR; the car always looked dirty.
This is a fact of life for a black car here in Colorado. I was always in love with a color called Salmon Silver or Lachssilber from BMW. After using what savings we had :-) and telling my son, he better study hard for a scholarship, I pulled the trigger right before Thanksgiving. I put no dollar limit on getting the job done right, but I truly believe the results speak for themselves, although I do not think the camera captures the true beauty of the paint job and how good the color looks on this car.
If anyone knows of a Group Get Together in Colorado I'd love to bring the car by.
I'd like to thank Butch Powers and the guys over at SVE in Broomfield for doing such a great job. You guys rock.
Also I am embarrassed that I also forgot to how to embed images within the post, can someone remind me and I will post more pictures.
Thanks for your time.
Steve

That is so amazing. I always loved the 8L S3, and you get to run it here in the US! Use photobucket.com and load the pics through that, so we can all electrocute ourselves by drooling all over our keyboards

Thanks. All the stars had to align for this to happen. Finally happened right before Thanksgiving.
Car was literally disassembled into a shell and a zillion pieces. And then the shell and all painted parts were finished primed painted and reassembled. Took about two months. When friends see the car, they at first think I got a new car, it does not dawn on them, that its the same car.
Truly the car looks better, than a car sitting on the showroom floor. That's how nice the paint job is.
It will kill me to drive it, but right now this is my daily driver.
Those who you have commented on the 8L chassis, some comments. That is one of the things that has made this car easy to maintain. Underneath it shares most of its hardware with a TT 225 Quattro or a R32 VW.
I have gotten a fair amount of questions from folks and as long as I have the time I love talking car stuff and showing folks the toys.
I now need a another car.
I am looking for an A4 Avant B6 with a manual transmission to become my daily driver.
I'd also be interested in a A3 with a manual transmission.
We have had such nice weather, I could not be luckier to pick my car up at this time.
I was also very sick the last week of restoration and in fact the car sat ready for 3 days while I was still on bed rest.
What a great way to start the weekend and hopefully the end of my illness.
