No, that wheel is OEM from a 2006 A6.......they are 17", w 45ET, I'm not sure if they are 17x7,7.5, or 8.

The trick of getting 255s on these cars is offset. Since I switch between the A3 and A4 forum all the time I get confused. But you want to be ET50 to ET56. (What is stock?) Basically close to stock.
Now 245-45-17 is too tall. 235-45-17 is little taller, and perfect on MOST wheels that are ET50 all the way to stock ET. May even work on ET48... we may try that soon. The wheel off the A6 should be the right offset though, so with a 235 tire it would work. A6 forum may help you here.
Although 255 is great, I would stick with 235s on the A3. IMHO 235-40-18 will look and handle great.
Unfortunately most wheel places sell ET 48 and ET 45 for these cars. That is just plain WRONG. It only allows you to fit 225s and pushes the wheel little too close to the fender. Well ET45 does.
