Default Seeking UK insurance for A3 quattro inc. Tracker discount

I recently bought a nearly new A3 quattro and I'm loving it. My insurance is up soon and I'm shopping around. I'm a 28 year old single male who lives in the HA postcode area and keeps the car in a garage. I have 4 years NCB, no motoring convictions or prior claims. SDP @ 10,000 miles pa, fully comp.

The quotes I am getting are around the £950 mark although that reduces to £800 without the NCB protection, which I want. Does this sound about right? Is my age the main penalisation?

The previous owner of the vehicle fitted it with a Tracker unit. This will cost £100 a year to reactivate or a one off fee of £299. Since I only intend to own the vehicle for 3 years, it doesn't really matter.

What I'm after is an insurer who will give me a discount of what it will cost to subscribe to the Tracker service. i.e. %10. The tracker bumf claims up to 20% discounts which would be nice but I'm starting to doubt it. Anyone know who offers this. I'm going through the list of insurers on the Tracker website (see link) but it is crap. They haven't bothered to list the 0800 numbers for the companies and quite often they are "exisiting customer" numbers and they give you the number to ring (often 0800!!). The ones I've spoken to before (like Privilege and Churchill) claim no knowledge of the Tracker discount.

On a related note, is there an insurance company who specialise in Audi policies?

Attached is a picture of my car if you are interested!

Default Nice car - funny in that dealer tried to sell me an idential 1.8TS (non Q)

with the cactus green and leather (no climate though so i declined)

We did a survey a while ago re insurance costs and for that car at your age about 600-800 is expected - so the quotes are reasonable. I got mine through AXA which was the best quote for me - dunno if they accept tracker or not.

Best bet is to phone MANY places and bargain between - Audi dealers can point you to the Audi insurance but this is really geared towards 50+ folk in a4TDI's (quoted me 3500GBP for 1 year!)

Regards

David

Mine has climate as well (essential to me as will, especially looking at the forecast this weekend!)

Yeah, I found the previous insurance link, which was interesting.

Axa is on my list so I'll try them. Are your demographics the same as mine?

Didn't realise it was going to place the image inline, so sorry for those that had to download it! At least the text loads first; thought it would be a link.
99 A3 quattro Sport

I'm in a low risk area but 24 with a theft and no fault claim on record so I guess I did well, plus I think my non quattro A3 (1.8TS)is lower insurance group?? Unsure of that one.

I like the bodykit, especially the front bumper mods - any others planned for the future?

I'll speak with a guy I know who installs Tracker and Navtrack and the like to see if he has any other info for you - how long to go b4 renewal?

I don't think my area is particularly risky. Perhaps age only matters at 30 these days, no pre/post 25 destinction.

I think you are right, non-quattro is a different insurance group (has 30 hp less) but only one or two.

Yeah, I like the bodykit too. I think it is quite unusual? Makes it look quite S3-like. I was thinking of a separate thread to find out others opinions. I wasn't too sure at first, what with the boyracer overtones, but I love it since I don't like the black skirting on normal A3s.

Mods? Only a CD autochanger (or perhaps an MP3 player). Although looking at Audizone recently has got me thinking; tyres, chip? Does anyone know if front fogs could be added to the intake grill of the bodykit? I wouldn't mind that.

Renewal is 8th of July, so got some time yet.

Thanks.
99 A3 quattro Sport

Default Nothing much to add but...

Hi there, and welcome to the forum. Have you got a real name we can call you by? We are all on first name terms here.

Anyway, I agree with the others, the body kit looks very good.

As for insurance, I think David has given you some good advice. Where is HA?

Cheers,

Alan
