...you bought a performance hatch, but those are not performance tyres. When you enter a corner using the Apex technique you expect maximum grip from your tyres, but P6000's don't deliver any.
But this is not Pirelli's fault. P6000's can be found on any typical family saloon like Alfa 156 as they are designed for these type of cars. This is Audi's fault. Especially for performance cars with a short wheelbase, like S3, Z3, high performance tyres such as Pirelli P Zero, Goodyear Eagle F1 are a must not a privilege. Tyres are not an item for cost cutting on a performance hatch.

Tracker have a list of companies that give discounts from memory 10% is common 15% possible if you are under 30 years of age most companies seem to load the premiums and the word quattro means fire breathing monster from the early 1980s rallying , we don't want to insure vehicles like that!!!
Is this another survey topic?
how much do we all pay?
how many years no claims?
how much excess?
what company or broker?

except mine is on Alu silver body and I run Avantgarde 'S' 17X8 wheels that stick out a bit. I looked at all bodykits and I think that these Projectzwo kits are the best design of all but just need a beefier-look tyres (225 at least). Did you ever consider installing a pair of driving lights in the middle air-duct. It makes A3 front view really menacing. Good luck with your new car.

Give Directline a try. I have an S3 and live in the WD area, and I pay about £450 with full NCB (but no protection yet because the NCB is transferred from a company policy). I've got Tracker (which some insurance companies insisted on) but the companies that would give a discount for it were all way more expensive. Admittedly, I am a little older than you - I don't know how much difference that will make.

I was thinking about putting lights in the left and right air duct to keep it in the style of other Audis, but you are right, the middle duct would look mean!
Are there kits you can buy to do that sort of thing?
I think we should have a separate tyre thread, i.e. what A3 do you have, what tyres and why. I know nothing about them, not even what the numbers mean (<-- terrible admission, cred rapidly diminishing!). 225s would be larger than my 205s but I'm not sure how. Presumably to diameter. But doesn't it make a difference to your speedo?
99 A3 quattro Sport

Direct Line is my most competitivee quote so far. I got it on line and rang them up to see if they offered a discount for the Tracker like it says on the Tracker website and they didn't but suggested I try Privilege, which is there performance arm, and they quoted more.
Doesn't surprise me that the ones offering Tracker 'discounts' are the more expensive ones. So, is it worth me activating it? After all, it is more for the insurance comapnies benefit than mine. If the car is "stolen to order" then whoever takes it will look after it so it is worth recovering, but if someone just takes it for a joy-ride, do you really want it back? I think A3s have a 4/5 rating; they can be defeated. Could be another thread; what extra security do you have? I'm thinking of getting one of those steering wheel covers from Halford. Just a bit of extra deterent.
If you are just the other side of 30 then that is probably the difference.
99 A3 quattro Sport

205,55,R15Z - means width of tyre 205mm, profile (sidewall) 55 (either mm or %age of width?!?), radius R15 (in inches) and the letter is the speed rating - the theoretical safe max speed.
Changing the profile CAN affect the speedo reading and this should be taken into account - you alter the rolling radius of the tyre / wheel combination
225 is 20mm wider than 205 although not necessarily better - it depends on the shape of the tyre - some are "round shouldered" i.e. all of the tread is not necessarity in contact with fround at any one moment, some are very squared off and put more of the rubber on the floor.
My 1.8TS has Michelin Pilot HX I think, 205/55/16 - I'll check later to be sure
