I wanted to know if there was ever an event that just experienced. I was driving along in an open freeway, and I heard a loud "pop". then I looked up and saw that the moonroof glass had completely shattered. I don't believe I was hit by anything. I briefly inspected the exterior of the moonroof, and could not identify any points of impact or chips, it was relatively smooth on the outside and just showed multiple irregular lines. But underneath the glass was completely and uniformly shattered! I took the vehicle to the nearest audi service department, and they wanted no part of it! I would have to report and claim through my insurance. Based on my immediate inspection, and without evidence of external trauma, i concluded it was a defect that cause this collapse. I felt that audi should at least make an effort to look into this matter and to analyze this shattered glass. But no takers! What can I do to clarify this, and have the appropriate party (audi via warranty or me via insurance)to resolve this matter? Please advise!?

A good body shop or insurance adjuster should be able to determine if it was impacted. I've never heard of one of these just spontaneously breaking, I do not believe that they are under any kind of stress like a windshield might be.

IIRC, someone posted what appears to be the identical text months ago about the same problem.

I don't recall if it was here or over at Fourtitude, but this screams spammer to me...
