Default I am sorry for you too.. my first ding from a bike rider.. who speedily rode away, no plates, no pay

I guess I would only say be glad that you know who did it, caught them doing it, and have some sort of recourse.. but that doesn't diminish the sucky-ness of the suck-uation.

Default Don't let her pay cash to get out of it! You'll need a rental car, and there is often more damage

behind the scenes than there appears to be on the surface, so the amount agreed upon may not be enough. The metal around the wheel arches typically have a lot of folds and welds, so it's not likely to be a simple repair. She may very well decide insurance is the way to go, when she sees what the cost of fixing your car will be (don't accept a bondo job - make sure it's an all metal repair).

As SilverCat says, if she had insurance on her previous car, she is covered for 30 days on the new car. Now if she's driving without insurance....... your insurance company (if you have uninsured motorist) can make life for her very unpleasant in the form of suspending her driver's license if she doesn't pay your insurance company. She deserves to have the accident on her record.

Make the insurance claim, get on with your life, and let her sort it out.

Sounds like you might be in the LA area? It's a bit of a drive, but Fabricante Autobody in Lake Forest is simply awesome. They aren't the fastest body shop out there, but they get it right - especially paint matching. I took an Alfa from NorCal to them when somebody creamed the trunk. Today, several years later when repairs are usually more obvious, you still cannot tell.

Default Lemme show you some pictures of the damage...

After I read April's reply, I thought perhaps it'd be a good idea to show you the actual damage:

"The" car who hit me (my dad took this at the crime scene with his cell phone...please excuse the poor picture quality.

My baby who is still without plates and scratched:

The damage may not seem severe, but it hurts just as badly. Every time I see it, it makes me cringe! =(

Default April, thanks for your advice...

I am actually in the Bay area. I have already asked my salesman from Oakland Audi to give me recommendations on an excellent body shop. If you happen to know of any good ones, please let me know. I'd appreciate it.

Default Just because you're asian doesn't excuse your completely ignorant post

I have sympathy for the car, but not the owner.

Default Sorry to offend you ILLBILL...

Of course being Asian doesn't give me an excuse to be "ignorant". The few seconds of ignorance that I appeared to have were just a way of venting and poking fun at the situation. I guess we all have our not-so-PC days, no?

But thanks for your sympathy for my car though.

Default You've been hit by a 20-l V24 engine with over 1500-horsepower...

Most likely the other driver had a tough time controlling a car with so much power while backing out from parking. For a car like that, perhaps MB should have provided better Parktronic or rearview camera.

Looks like the A3 holds its own extremely well under the circumstances.

Default I feel your pain. I to am going through the same thing. It was my fault though..

I backed into a rock and damaged the same parts you have damage. Both the bottom and top bumpers need to be replaced. It will cost me $800-$900 in 2 weeks. Thats when the parts come in.. Speaking of that. I can get you a new bumper for under 100 dollors.. Give me an email @jasonsiebuhr@yahoo.com and I will give you information about it.
