Default Ahhhh, I haven't had to use a local bodyshop. Try the regional forum. Looking at

your pics, it looks like maybe just a bumper cover and possibly some underlying brackets or supports. Whew! I thought it might involve the metal wheel arch, would be simply dreadful!

If it is structural at all and not just a bumper cover and/or supports, make sure you are compensated for "diminished value" as well, since this accident will become part of the history of the car and reduce it's resale. If you look into the C5 A6 Stoney's FAQ under my sig, you'll find details.

Default At least it's fixable, why not "upgrade" your bumper?

Unlike my 1st A3 =(. I feel your pain... only mine was about a 100x more.

I would definitely upgrade the bumper, maybe get the s-line? Just to make yourself feel better. And since she's paying out of her own pocket, there's no way she would know the difference.

I know I shouldn't sterotype as well... but Female Asian Drivers with Glasses (FADG) are definitely the worst drivers in the world. If you think the ones in a Benz can't drive... you should check out some of the Camry drivers here in Toronto... Scary (For the record, I'm Asian as well)

A3OhLaLa, I would most definitely take April's advice into super-ultra-2.0T consideration. From past experience of allowing someone to pay me out of pocket rather than going through the insurance company, I ended up getting screwed. From what I understand, having her pay you out of pocket is not legal (this is based on what my insurance company USAA told me). Anyway, if you must inconvenience her, do so. But report it.

Default That's not so bad

It's just cosmetic damage - once it's fixed, it'll be as good as new. be glad she didn't hit the wheel, which may have bent something important.

Default Bonjour Everyone!

Today's a brand new day and I feel much better. I am going to try and visit a body shop today to get an assessment first. Hopefully, there's no major hidden damage. After reading one of your comments, a new S-line bumper (or just even a brand new bumper) keeps flashing itself in my head now! Ummm...we shall see!

I want to thank everyone for making me feel better with your comments. And I do apologize for offending anyone for my angry statement about asian drivers. I know it sounded ignorant on my part; it was a moment of venting and making fun of the situation. I am really not an ignorant monster in my everyday life.

Thanks again and I wish everyone a great and sunny day!

More updates (and pictures) to come...stay with me...

I know how you feel. A week after I got my car, I was at parked at IKEA to load from the rear when a guy in a van backed out of the space across from me. I heard this thud and felt my car rock back and forth.

Of course, the a-hole had the nerve to demand an explanation of why my car was so low (stock) as oppose to fessing up to the fact that he had limo tint and failed to see my car. He wanted to pay it out of pocket. That was a no-go.

Anyway, it was taken care of through my insurance company.

BTW, Pacific Islander here. Hehehe

Default Update: The estimate came out to...

around $1200 for parts & labor. The body shop took one look and didn't even consider the buffing option. He said a brand new car gets a brand new bumper. I notified the lady who hit me...bless her heart...she nearly fell to the ground after I gave her the estimate. I didn't even mention the rental car cost yet. So to make a long story short, the lady decided that after all, she does have insurance and has already filed a claim with her insurance.

FYI - I went to the Body Shop named C.A.R. adjacent to Oakland Audi.
