with the high gas prices and my moving to a bigger place, i am thinking about getting an a3 3.2 to replace my s4 avant. the one thing that puzzles me though is i've seen skidpad scores for the a3 (in 2.0t variant) vary from 0.71 to 0.81g. That's a pretty big discrepancy, and overall not that impressive for an audi. thoughts?

see this link

There definitely seems to be a good amount of variation in the test numbers for the A3 (0-60, etc). I was able to hit some decent roads during my test drive and the 3.2 w/ 18" wheels felt like it cornered as well as my S4 Avant. Purely seat of the pants and only one quick drive but I'd say the A3 felt lighter (even though it isn't really very much lighter), turns in a little quicker, and comes close in acceleration (less low end torque though).
Of course my impressions are probably colored a little bit by my desire to "want to like" this car. In the end I decided it was close enough performance-wise that I'd make more difference in my driving by taking a class to improve my skills.
