Default I've got some Spikes Spiders instead of chains.

You fit the metal plate onto the driving wheels at the start of the winter (not difficult at all) and then if you need to fit the Spikes it takes literally a few minutes per tyre (just a case of fitting the spokes onto the plastic wheel cover then snapping them on over the wheel). I've never had to use them yet though so can't vouch for their performance.

http://www.spikes-spiders.com/</a

Default Looks like these are the solution for my lazy butt. I can weather 60 secs.

to put the spikes spiders before or after a day of snowboarding.

What I hate the most is getting your hands all numb and dirty to install the chains while its snowing. And then the fear of having them damage the car due to mis-installation. The tip of the cable was a bit long one time and it constantly made a banging noise as the wheel went around.

Who knows, the excalibur wheels might look better with the system on Thanks all for your suggestions.

Default Prob is all season don't hack it when the CHP requires chains. It is either chains or snow tires.

I am grappling with this same issue. I'm in SF w/ an A4 and I like to go to Kirkwood/S.Lake which means highway 50, which more often requires chains than on I 80. You won't get away with all seasons w/o chains if the highway patrol is out. I think I'm going to get snow tires and cheap aluminum rims.
