I got mine for $150 UNDER invoice in CA. Used a great service called Car Bargains.

Read the article and check out some of the press they've gotten. Basically, they are a non-profit and they get local dealers in the area to bid against each other for your business. You get a nice report back telling you what the dealer's bottom line is. Then you get to see the difference between the local dealers to make a good choice of who to purchase from. No hassle, no negotiation because you know exactly what you will pay before you walk in the door.
It's more than worth the $160 for the service if you ask me.
Good luck.

Why would a dealer lose money? That's like you going to work and paying your boss. (edit)
I smell an old fish;-)
Keep in mind that as inventory shrinks and Summer demand rises, prices will adjust to reflect changes in demand from Winter levels.

"Good price" for whom?;-) Does your specific combo exist? How set are you on that combo?
The more flexible you are, the easier it is to find a dealer willing to discount. No more '06s and the V6 is pretty rare compared to the 4 cylinder, so that is going to factor into things. You might find a dealer willing to do a locate and truck the car to you, but service costs money.
My favourite routine when buying a car is to visit the service dept first and ask the service manager from whom they would buy a car. They get to see what promises are broken and who gets a full delivery with explanation of features so the customer understands the car well.
As you may know, Audi also has the Audi Brand Specialist program in which at least one salesperson at the dealer is trained by the factory. They often have a little more authority and can run locates, etc for you. Again, they usually aren't the cheapest, but if you're looking for something more than just 4 tires and a steering wheel, then they can be worth it.

not completely set, april...
but those are the options i most prefer. the closest dealer to me has a very good service department and they've treated my tt well -- and i will be using them for service with the A3. if possible, i'd like to buy the car from them, too.
but having some idea what others have paid relative to invoice will improve my bargaining position. i understand the reduction in supply that is happening with 06 models, and will take that into consideration. my local dealer should have no problem finding as similar an A3 to the one i want that they can. but i'd like to get as low a price as possible -- and in car buying, there is considerably more information available for the dealer than the buyer. i'm just trying to even it out a bit.
we'll see if i'm successful, or not!
