Default Don't be surprised if the light doesn't go off immediately

Even though the oil level is correct, I think it takes time for the system to decide that we are back to normal.

It might be an anomaly in our car, but it feels like the system is hesitant to make that decision.

Default I put in diesel truck oil!

He he...

I found Mobil 1 5-40 in Mountain View, CA, which said "turbo diesel truck" oil on it.

I trusted science and thought that all 5-40s are the same.

Unless the dealership does a chemical analysis, I doubt a tech would be able to tell whether Mobil 1 to Castrol to Royal Purple was used.

Default All they have to do is to ask for your documentation that maintenance was performed

according to Audi specs. No doc--no warranty.

Actually they might be able to tell when they drained it, depending on how long ago it was changed.

Royal Purple, as the name implies, is actually dyed purple (like trans fluid is dyed red) so it's not hard to tell it from any other oil.

Default I've never gotten asked about having to provide documentation on ...

maintenance.
