I'm coming from a '98 A4 1.8T quattro. Here were my impressions of the 2 cars against each other and against my 'ancient' A4.
-The 2.0T's steering felt much lighter than the 3.2's. I thought the 2.0T was a bit light and the 3.2 was a bit heavy. (My A4 is somewhere in between).
-The engine sound of the 2.0T sounded more impressive than that of the 3.2.
-Road noise from the 2.0T was greater than I expected. The 3.2 road noise seemed significantly less (different tires???, maybe more insulation???).
-Power is a very significant improvement over my 150hp 1.8T. Both felt fast.
-I had to manage my starts with the 2.0T to prevent the front wheels from skidding. The 3.2's front wheels skidded momentarily before the quattro kicked in. So the 3.2 was easier to drive from that perspective, but I'm sure I'd get used to the 2.0T.
-The DSG transmissions were slick. Especially loved the 2.0T 'burps' between shifts during acceleration.
-Both A3s felt significantly more firm, with a less bouncy ride, than my A4 (even though my A4 does that the sport package).
Walked away from the test drives wishing there was a 2.0T quattro. Still thinking about the options...

Although I was loaned a 2.0 for a week and it made me glad to get my 3.2 back. I missed the low end torque that the 2.0 lacks.<a href="http://photobucket.com/" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v407/jefexx/gloosybacka3.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting"></a>

with the windows down. The 3.2's exhaust is too mechanical in the A3. Also, at freeway speeds, the 3.2's exhaust drones more loudly, which makes it feel less relaxed than the 2.0. However, I'll take the smoothness of the 3.2 over 2.0 any day.

I think I had a little hook up from my tire guy but I paid $2800 after all was said and done. Still got stock s-line suspension but the 19's fill up the wheel well nicely. I thought they would ride really hard but really the car is soo stiff anyways, it doesnt matter. Just slightley more road noise from the 35's
