while picking my TT up at the dealer today, i brought along my friend to check out the A3(she currently drives a '99 Accord, so she is obviously ready to move on!)
We started off with a 2.0T manual Lava Gray with Ebony leather, sport package, open sky, bose, cold weather package, and i think that's it. i drove it off the lot b/c she hasn't driven stick in 5 years and didn't want to stall out while the salesman watched us drive off.
when i initially took off, i didn't feel much power. but once i shifted into second, the car really took off. first of all, the 2.0T is WAY smoother than the 1.8T! I love this engine. the exhaust note sounded pretty good. fit 'n finish is typical Audi. i love the open sky. all in all it was an awesome car that is extremely fun to drive and it a lot faster than i thought it would be.
we switched seats and my friend stalled it out like 10 times, so we decided she would be better off with the DSG. we take it back to the dealer and say forget the manual, she needs a DSG.
he pulls around an ocean blue 2.0T, platinum leather, sport package, bose, and cold weather. it had been sitting for a few weeks on gravel so the tires were very bumpy for the first couple of miles. needless to say my friend hit 85 before we knew it and the car was speeding its *** off down the road... this thing pulled! i think the reason it's so much faster than the manual is because not only does it shift quicker than a human, but you don't have to take your foot off the gas in between shifts.
we switched seats again and i floored it, going about 65 cop pulls out right in front of me about 50 feet ahead, i slam on the brakes and the tires are squealing... they worked pretty well! the DSG is so much more fun than i thought it would be. in manual mode it is just so quick. the nice thing is if you are tired or in traffic you can pop it into D or Sport. it's very tossable and felt very light compared to the TT. it was also fwd so that makes a big difference.
so now it is just a matter of deciding what she wants in the A3 b/c she is going to order it and wait the 13 weeks or whatever. i am psyched about her getting an A3 because now she can be part of the Audi crew.
