Well, I think I have made up my mind on an a3 3.2....there is only one option that I am not sold on...that is the open sky system.
Here is what I am wondering....Is there actually more or less headroom with the open sky? It seems like the front seat headroom is about the same (maybe a little less) with the OS, however the backseat seems to have a lot less headroom w/OS.
Does anyone have an idea what I am talking about? Is it just my perception or is there actually less headroom with the open sky option?
Thanks in advance.

Definitely less; I've heard 1" but I think it's more. The front headroom on the A3 is fairly plentiful so it's not a big deal, but it makes the rear seat uninhabitable for me. This is the reason I'm going to have to special-order my 3.2; everything on the lots seems to have open-sky.

There is about an inch lost in overhead, but I'm over 6'4" and could wear a hat in there. Is that really cramped for you? Ok, I admit I move the seat all the way back and down which doesn't leave much room for back seat passengers, but they just slow me down. Seriously, I'm amazed at all the room.

A3 3.2 DSG open-sky headroom improvement?
I'm thinking about getting a 3.2 DSG A3 as a daily driver to keep the miles low on my RS6, but I don't quite fit, as I'm tall and the headrroom in an "open-sky" A3 is a bit tighter than other Audis. Yes, I do fit in one without open sky, but this means I must order a car, as a 3.2 w/o open sky is almost non-existent. I can get a better deal from the dealer if I take the car they have, plus don't have to risk that financing available 2-3 mos. from now will be less favorable. So, has anybody customized the seat mounting (rails or brackets) or had the seat bottom re-padded to gain the 3/4" or so that the open-sky impinges on my head?
