Those with the 2.0T who live in winter climates - do you miss not having Quattro?

Living up in the NorthEast and travelling in upstate NY and VT all the time, I'm a little concerned about getting the 2.0T without the Quattro. Love the car, and everything about it, but I'm just curious if those of you that have it and drive in the snow (w/ snow tires) miss the quattro or not?
Thanks!
Thanks!

I live in RI, have Dunlop Wintersport M3 (studless snows) on my A3 2.0T which are very good. Even when roads aren't plowed or there's a bit of ice on my uphill driveway, I haven't had any problems getting going. I also drove in a fairly heavy snowstorm up to NH, no problems at all (though I was mostly on 95 and major roads). The traction control works fairly well the few times I've had it kicked in.
Have not owned an Audi Quattro previously, but used to have a Subie Outback wagon as my winter driver. I'd have to say that in snow, the Subaru certainly felt more planted even with only all seasons on it (even more so w/ snows).
I'd also prefer Quattro even in the dry, the 2.0T motor has ample torque and w/ FWD it generates wheelspin from a standing start even when you're not really trying. So in retrospect I'd probably get a 3.2Q (I didn't want to wait, ordered last July). I love my 2.0T and very pleased overall, but ended up getting lots of the options that are included in the 3.2Q so the price diff wouldn't have been too huge.

No problems. Use the manual tranny to control and have had the most fun. I have a A4 2.8 Quattro and I have parked it cause the A3 is so much fun.

An Audi w/o AWD is a waste of money IMO. No 2.0 TQ is the reason we still have an A4 in our driveway as opposed to an A3.

hasn't been a ridiculous winter so far, but we've had our share of snow in upstate (Rochester area)...i'm running the stock pirelli p6's (no snows) and i havn't had any issues...you might notice a bit of slipping on snowy starts of the line, but the traction control jumps on that real quick...my girlfriend lives on a huge hill out in the country and the 2.0 made it up that no problem (my 99 front wheel passat never could), you'll be fine with the fronttrak

Hey, someone else in Roch with an A3. Have not seen another on the roads up here. I have the Pirelli Pzero Rosso's and they absolutely suck in the snow. Naturally it had not snowed all winter until I picked up the car. Hope to see you around
