For those with DSG...

What are your thoughts on the different drive logics for the tranny? What I mean is regular D mode, S mode and paddle shifter mode.
One thing I don't like is the regular Drive mode. It shifts way too early as in 6th gear while doing 40mph. On the other hand the sport mode is much more spunky and fun at the right time. I wish there was a mode that's in between the two. I wonder if there is a an ECU flash available to remap the throttle.
DSG with the paddle shifter is way fun of course but on occasion I like to just put it into full auto mode only we're stuck with one extreme to the other.

In D, it does tend to upshift early, which I'm guessing is in deference to better gas mileage.
S is what you say, very spunky and holds it just a tad longer than what I would have thought.
Paddle shifting is the way to go for me. I'll downshift with it and most of the time, when it comes time to upshift, it's just about ready to switch to auto mode again.

That is to say, the ECU (control unit) adapts to your driving style. There are something like 200 possible programs. There are codings that can put it in 'sport mode' which is more aggressive than stock. And then of course there is full 'manual' mode (Tip).
May be the same with the DSG logic.

Is is adaptive logic? Something tells me it is not and I haven't heard anyone say anything that would allude to that. My VW Touareg had it which was nice in my opinion. If the regular auto mode could learn the "correct" way to shift it would be great! :-) I do love the paddles though.

Timmay,
I have had my car just 2 days, and I feel exactly the same about the DSG. Love the Sport mode, but don't care for Normal mode much. It is just way too conservative. I was shocked to see that I was in 6th. gear at only 40 mph. I agree that something in between Sport and Normal would be my preference for a "normal" driving mode. The drawback with the Sport mode, although great fun, is that gas mileage is sure to suffer.

Any way to lock the tranny in the paddle-shifting manual mode ???
I do need to read the manual, and I have only made a small dent in it so far. The manual is poorly translated. My BMW manual was quite a bit better.
