"A tire's "maximum inflation pressure" may be different that the assigned tire pressure used to rate the tire's "maximum load". For example, while a P-metric sized standard load tire's maximum load is rated at 35 psi, many P-metric sized standard load performance and touring tires are designed to contain up to 44 psi (and are branded on their sidewalls accordingly). This additional range of inflation pressure (in this case, between 36 and 44 psi) has been provided to accommodate any unique handling, high speed and/or rolling resistance requirements determined by the tire and vehicle manufacturers. These unique tire pressures will be identified on the vehicle placard in the vehicle's owner's manual."
Max rating from tire is 51psi, I am trying to elimate the excess tire noise and cupping (located at the center of the tread). Going to try higher pressures, monitoring noise as well as performance. I will keep you posted.

When I ran the recommended pressures I always got premature wear on the outside edges.
I have put 2-4 PSI more pressure for many years with many different cars and I always get even wear. To determine my set pressure I look at the bulge in the sidewall and set it to look "just right". Not too much and not too little. If, while standing, you have to look hard to see the bulge, it's too much air and if it's got an easily noticeable bulge, it's too little. Hard to describe further but after checking pressures for many years I've gotten a good feel for what looks right. Later, I'll check the wear pattern and adjust a little as needed. I'm running +3 PSI on my Pzero Rosso tires and have even wear so far.
Of course there are temperature considerations. I'm in Southern California so I don't have to worry about extreme temperature fluctuations.
Tirerack has good information about this, as usual:<ul><li><a href="http://www.tirerack.com/a.jsp?a=AR4&url=%2Ftires-techpage-1%2F147.shtml">http://www.tirerack.com/tires-techpage-1/147.shtml</a></li></ul>
