As most of you know, the window switches in the USA spec A3 for 2006-2008 have dual control functions--first position is manual movement and second position is automatic (either direction, up or down).
My hands are larger than average, but not "beefy". I can gauge tactile control and won't fumble on operating delicate devices. However, I'm finding that the first position on the window switches does not provide very much resistance. So, it's very easy to accidentally kick in the second position and move the window automatically--a nuisance if you just want to nudge the window open a centimeter or two.
Is anyone else here finding their window switches to be a bit touchy? I wonder if there's some way to modify them to increase resistance.

I'm also wondering if there's another switch design by VW or Audi that has better tactile control and could be swapped with the switches in our window control unit.

I totally agree. Its especially annoying when your dog sticks his head out the window and pushes the button and all of a sudden there's enough space for her to jump out. Then the problem gets worse when you try to nudge the window back up so she can't jump out but almost decapitate the poor thing because the automatic function is so sensitive and goes all the way up. This all happening while you're driving at 40 mph in traffic.

Now, I just move the switch to its limit to get the window moving in auto mode, then click the switch again when I want the window to stop.
Also, my passenger-side rear window has flaked-out a few times where it won't move once it's been fully lowered (bad lower-limit switch?). Anyone else had this problem?
