TPMS threshold?

I searched the archive and people said 5PSI difference would cause the TPMS to light up on the dash. But I measured the pressure on the tires of my 2006 A3 and the left front was at 15 psi while the front right was at 27 psi. Is 12 psi enough for the rotational difference to be different enough for the TPMS warning to go off?
I never checked the air pressure because I thought the TPMS would notify me, and I thought the slight bulge of the tire on the front was due to more weight being put on them.

...that the sensors activate at a minimum when the pressure drops by 25%. Since our cars (depending on tire) are somewhere between 36 and 39psi, that means that you can be down almost 10psi before you get an alert.
The sensors are not intended to replace periodic checks - they are intended to warn of catastrophic failure....

that will be the ratio of speed difference - it is linear. If it is over 25% it will give you the warning.

Why would it be in the owners manual then? I skipped over those mod section because I thought that's for the pressure measurement method. Apparently not.
Odd that they would have a recall on that feature when it is not available on the car:<ul><li><a href="http://www.allworldauto.com/tsbs/NHTSA_2006_audi_a3_technical_service_bulletin_2328 58.html">http://www.allworldauto.com/tsbs/NHTSA_2006_audi_a3_technical_service_bulletin_2328 58.html</a</li></ul>

It pertains to a problem with the satellite receiver causing the TPMS warning light to go on. The problem is that the 2006 model lacks the TPMS feature. 2008 and later models have an active TPMS system which uses sensors in the wheels.
For instructions on enabling it see the link below:<ul><li><a href="http://oooo-a3.blogspot.com/2006/04/tire-pressure-monitoring-system-tpms.html">Instructions from Len's blog</a></li></ul>

I skipped it cuz I thought it was standard since they talk about it in the owners manual.
Once I hit a giant concrete debris and blew my front tire. I was wondering how long it would take for the TPMS to go off since obviously one wheel's circumference is so much smaller than the other. But I wasn't going to drive any more than a half a block once I knew the tire was flat.
