Transmission issue? Car won’t move in drive or reverse

Hi everyone. Pretty new to this and have been trying to find the answer across lots of forums but can’t seem to locate anyone having similar issues.

I have an Audi A3 2010 1.6 S Line with 71k miles 7 speed DSG auto. A couple weeks ago my gear indicator started flashing on the dash but the car drove fine and I done various long trips over Christmas without any issues.

I tried to drive the car this morning to take to a garage for a diagnostic check as many closed over the festive period however the car does not move when in D or R and it hardly revs. The car revs normal when in P and N. I am going to have it towed to the garage but wondered if anyone had any ideas what could cause this? Don’t want to be ripped off £££s as I do not know much about cars!
