Default I kinda wonder if it's an issue with the DSG clutch slipping.

Thinking low rpm, high load situations . . . .

Only real connection between you and the 3.2 owner that had it.

Other thought might be a slightly out of round driveshaft . . .

When you got your tires checked, you use a hunter GSP9700 right? I've had tires balance out that still created a substantial amount of road force.

Default Not lowered in any way, eh? Some S6 owners had problems when they lowered and used wheels

with had wheels with non-stock offsets. Some brands of tires seemed to make it worse (think it was Pirelli). A pulsation at speed. Some sort of harmonic sympathetic vibration that was virtually impossible to track down. They went back to stock, and almost all saw the problem go away.

lower offset wheels than stock often exacerbate wheel bearing issues

Default well the general rule is that if you stay within 10mm of OEM, you'll be fine . . .

I doubt that it's the wheels, but you can always check by swapping w&t with someone for a day.
