Upgrading stereo?

I'm keen on upgrading my stereo to an Alpine CDA-9831R and replacing the speakers. But (as a complete newbie to all this)I know nothing of the current (audi concert) system that is in my 1999 A3 sport. I've done a search here but can't find that much info on the specs of the speakers in the car or the amps that (might) drive them. Does anyone know what size and type speakers are in the front and rear and what amp (if any) is in there.

If I remeber correctly they are 5.25" in the doors (compoenets with tweeter at the top), 6.5" in the rear panels and a small sub in the trunk. I'm not sure if the rears have an amp as most other audis. When I did mine I replaced all of the speakers so didnt check...
You have to be carful when replacing the door speakers as ther isnt must space (depth_, I put Diamond Audio components in and the door panels didnt fit properly at the bottom afterwards...
Oh I had a 2000 S3...
Hope this helps.

Hi,
I installed 13cm component set in the front doors and 17cm in the rear passenger side panels. The speakers are Infinity Kappa 50.5cs (front) and Infinity Kappa 652.5i (rears) and I have an Alpine CDM-9823RR CD player in't front with an AUX cable connected for my iRiver MP3 player. Highly recommend the Infinity's and Alpine ain't too bad either...
Will need adapter rings for the 13cm and 17cm cones, front door tweeters are a tight fit but they do fit the factory locations. Outboard crossover for the front doors will fit in the arm-rest cavity, I used strong double-sided adhesive and they just don't budge.

Thanks for the replys guys - just the info I needed!
Might post back speaker set-ups if you guys are willing to give opinions.![Smile](https://www.audiworld.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Just one more question... are the stereo and speakers very easy to replace or would I be better off getting a pro to do this work for me?
